A Brief History of the Fae in San Francisco

• 2001: Erik, the Black Duke, presumed dead in the Night of Iron Knives, returns to assassinate the sidhe Duke Liam of House Fiona and retake the throne. His rule is short, ended in a duel with the Sir Puck of Ravenwood, a pooka knight from San Jose.
• 2003: The Night of Iron Rain leads to the death of most of the city's nobility. After the ensuing chaos an eshu rises to take the throne. Duchess Kesia rules for less than a year before dying in an epic battle with Balor to halt the coming of Winter. In the resulting chaos, Lord Falchion, Chancellor to Queen Phoebe, declares martial law in the duchy.
• 2005: Duchess Melissa is appointed to the throne, ruling for almost two years before dying of a strange illness. The Queen declares a return to the old ways, appointing a Summer Duke and a Winter Duke, but the High King intervenes and a new sidhe is sent to take the throne, Duke Thorne of House Fiona.
• 2008: The Tiend comes due and the Dreaming is almost lost when one of the seven princesses disappears. She surfaces in San Francisco and surrenders to the sidhe.
• 2010: Duke Thorne is assassinated by shapeshifting prodigals during a conflict over a freehold. The nobility is called to task and reorganized, the barons stripped of all territory but their holds and forced to swear fealty to the duke directly, while the counts are demoted to barons.
